ASUNCIÓN, viernes, 25 abril 2008 (ZENIT.org).- El nuncio apostólico en Paraguay, monseñor Orlando Antonini visitó el jueves al obispo suspendido "a divinis" Fernando Lugo, presidente electo de Paraguay.
El nuncio Antonini felicitó a Lugo por su triunfo en las elecciones del pasado domingo y le hizo entrega de una pluma como obsequio del Papa Benedicto XVI
"El Vaticano tiene una postura sobre el caso de monseñor Fernando Lugo que se dará a conocer próximamente a través de un comunicado", dijo el nuncio a los periodistas tras la entrevista.
La Santa Sede rechazó la renuncia de Lugo a su ministerio episcopal y lesuspendió "a divinis", conforme a la ley canónica, or abandonar su ministerio y dedicarse a la política.
Por su parte, el presidente electo pidió el lunes perdón a la Iglesia. "Si mi actitud y mi desobediencia causaron dolor, pido sinceramente perdón a los miembros de la Iglesia", dijo a periodistas internacionales.
Recientemente, el padre Federico Lombardi S.I., director de la Oficina de Información de la Santa Sede, informó que se analizará "con calma" y "sin prisas" el caso, y sostuvo que cualquier decisión sobre el asunto deberá ser tomada por el Papa Benedicto XVI.
